A. Gerard's Story

A. Gerard “Gerry” Beauchamp, 68, of Ipswich, beloved husband of Patrisha (Cream) Beauchamp, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 10, 2017, with his loving family by his side after a brief battle with cancer.
Gerry was born in Woburn, Mass., on February 18, 1949, the son of the late Arthur and Emma Beauchamp. Gerry graduated from Arlington Catholic High School in 1966 as the Class President. He then attended Merrimack College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1970. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Education and a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology.
After completing his education, Gerry founded and operated Boston’s Restaurant in Delray Beach, Fla., with Trish from 1978 to 1984. Gerry and Trish moved back to New England in 1984 where he began his career in Human Resources in the financial industry before being named the Executive Director of the Ipswich Family YMCA in May, 2002. He was proud of his role in providing 48 units or affordable housing at the Y’s Powder House Village that opened in 2011. In 2015, he led a multi-million dollar capital campaign for the expansion of the Y’s building and a new outdoor aquatic center. At its dedication last June, Gerry was honored by the naming of the “Beauchamp Teen Center” in recognition of his extraordinary contributions and immeasurable impact on the Y and the community.
Gerry was an avid runner having completed 30 marathons and countless other road races, many under the name of his alter ego, Geronimo Horsefeathers.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and devoted friend. He was also a proud Ipswich Rotarian.
He is survived by his wife, Trish, of Ipswich; his son, Adam Beauchamp, also of Ipswich; and his daughter, Ashley Zella, and her husband, Casey Zella, and grandson, Camden Beau Zella, of Huntersville, N.C. He is survived by his siblings, Sr. Barbara Beauchamp of Beverly, Jackie Beauchamp of Woburn; sister-in-law, Janet Beauchamp, Mal McDonough, of Woburn; brother-in-law, Michael McDonough; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Cream of Gloucester. Also surviving are dearest family friends, Sr. Susan Raymo of Beverly, and Dr. John Nestor, of Ipswich.
He is also survived by the following nieces and nephews, Mark Beauchamp, husband of Kara Beauchamp of Salem, N.H., Suzanne Clurman, wife of Anthony Clurman of Woburn, Amy Dabrieo, wife of Bob Dabrieo of Woburn, Teri Concannon, wife of Marty Concannon of Dorchester, Jodi Rowe, wife of Jeff Rowe of Dracut, Mass., John Turner, husband of Carolyn Turner of Woburn, David Turner, husband of Maureen Turner of Woburn, Nicole Poliskey, wife of Stephen Poliskey of Gloucester, and Matthew Cream.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Saturday, May 13, at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
