Alfred B.'s Story
Alfred B. Chianciola, 55, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on September 18, 1962, he was the son of Benjamin J. Chianciola and Judith (Souza) Joefield.
Al was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the Class of 1980. He was also a graduate of the Police Academy and served on the Rockport and the Essex Police Departments. He worked as a machinist for Essex Bay Engineering for many years.
Al was well known in town as just an easy going, good natured guy. He had a love for family, friends and riding his many different motorcycles on long trips. He could be found many evenings enjoying a visit with his friends at the Moose Lodge where he served as Administrator of Cape Ann Lodge 1471. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Benjamin Chianciola of Gloucester; his brother, John Chianciola of Gloucester; his sister, Josephine Richards and husband, Kevin and their children of Maine; brother, Jame Joefield; step-brother, Mark Jackman; step-father, Winston Joefield; niece, Nicole DaSilva and husband, Jeffrey and their children; nephew, Bryan Chianciola; aunt, Libby Chisholm; and many cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Judith Joefield and aunts, Josephine Brown, Mamie Louise Crone and Serafina DelTorchio.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday, September 27, at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
The burial will be held privately at a later date.
