Alice M. Battistelli Beverly, MA - From a long and happy life, Alice M. Battistelli, age 88, passed peacefully with family by her side at Herrick House on December 19 to be with God, her beloved late husband, Raymond who passed in 2005, and their two sons, Gerald and Bruce, who predeceased them in 1971 and 1978, respectively.
Alice was born in Salem on January 8, 1930, the youngest of Eugene and Rose Sweeney’s four children.
She and Ray met on the job at the United Shoe Factory in Beverly and later married in 1949. In 56 years of marriage, their love would be shared with seven children in a small but happy home in Beverly. Alice and Ray were devoted to family, friends and their Catholic faith. Together, they created the “Good Friday Walk,” to benefit the disadvantaged of the North Shore and beyond for nearly 40 years.
Family vacations were always an adventure with Mom, Dad and seven kids crammed into the old station wagon. In later years, with spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren added to the mix, family gatherings were always a time of joy for Alice.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane and husband, Gary Johnson, Donna and husband, Mark Wile, and sons, Glenn and wife Elia, Alan and wife Erin, and David and wife, Mary plus ten grandchildren; Kevin Wile and wife Lee, Alex Wile, Jessica Battistelli, Joseph Battistelli, Claudia Rodriguez, Alan Battistelli, Jr. and wife, Sarah, Courtney Battistelli, Shelby Battistelli, Lauren and husband, Steve Cote, Brett Battistelli and by three great grandchildren, Weston and Cobie Wile, and Benjamin Cote She was predeceased by a brother James Sweeney and two sisters, Gertrude Lewis, Mary Benvie. And let’s not forget the dear relatives and friends who will all miss her radiant smile and contagious laugh. To a life well lived.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Lahey Health at Home, Care Dimensions and the Herrick House for their compassionate care and support.

Her funeral Mass was held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 552 Cabot St., Beverly, at 12 p.m. Burial was in North Beverly Cemetery.
