Alison E.'s Story

Text size

Alison E. Souza (Wolfe) lost her life unexpectedly after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Alan Souza of Essex, having shared 34 years of life together. Alison was born on March 11, 1957 in Alexandria, Va. to John and Evelyn Wolfe. Having a dad in the military gave Alison and her brother, Tom, advantages of seeing many parts of the world that most of us could only dream of. With that travel bug in her, Alison surely enjoyed her vacations. She and Alan would travel every year, and she and "the Girls" would plan a trip every chance they could get.
Alison was an avid reader, and you would rarely see her without a book in her hand. She could often be seen with Alan going up and down the Essex River in their boat and enjoying life. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Alison's friends and family are stunned and heartbroken. What a tragic loss for those who loved her and those of you who will not get the chance.
Alison graduated from Gloucester High and went on to study business at Newbury College. She worked in management at the Holiday Inn in Peabody for 25 years and most recently at Sleep Med in Peabody.
Alison was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Tom, who passed away while on a transplant list for a liver. Alison wanted, if this day ever came, someone in need to benefit from her organs, which are being donated to the New England Organ Bank.
Alison leaves behind her husband and her best friends of 45 years, Jeanine and Candy. Not everybody gets to pick their sister but we did. Alison also leaves behind her aunts, cousins, friends and her beloved pets, Moses Joseph and Elvis Lucifer, both of whom are still in the window waiting for her to come home.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Her visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, November 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Alison wishes donations to be sent to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930 and for you to think about becoming an organ donor for the benefit of others.
