Arielle Rose Urbach Pieterse

April 19, 1991 - July 19, 2018

Arizona - Arielle Rose Urbach Pieterse died unexpectedly July 19, 2018, after a long struggle with depression. Her delicate soul touched everyone she knew.

Arielle was born in April, 1991, to Anne Pieterse and Ralf Urbach, welcomed by her older brother Stefan Wolf Urbach Pieterse. In addition to her loving parents and brother, Arielle is survived by sister-in-law Amy Pieterse; uncles Charles and David Pieterse; aunts Renate Höllein and Sara and Janice Pieterse; cousins Marie Christine Höllein, Jack, Katie, Will, and Ella Pieterse; countless friends in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Colorado; and her precious bean “Mekko.”

Shy yet adventurous, Arielle had been setting the groundwork for a promising art career in Arizona. Arielle had earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and completed work toward a master’s in art at the University of Arizona.

She had an effortless ability to express information in visual form. Watching her create art or even move through the world was like witnessing a feather glide on air. Her quiet and grace belied a firm sense of intuition and self-direction.

Arielle experienced a special connection with animals. In addition to treasuring her pets, she rode and cared for horses throughout her childhood.

A private Mass is planned, and a public tribute to Arielle will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please extend kindness to the people and creatures you encounter.
