Barbara R. (Veno) Davis

Barbara R. (Veno) Davis Gloucester - Mrs. Barbara R. (Veno) Davis, 88, of Gloucester passed away on Saturday morning, November 24, 2018 in Gloucester Healthcare after a brief illness. She is the wife of the late Arthur M. Davis with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Barbara was born November 4, 1930 in Lynn, she is the daughter of the late Bernard E. and Dora M. (Webster) Veno. She resided in Florida for many years and recently returned to Gloucester. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1948 and was very active on the Reunion Committee.
Barbara worked for the Gloucester Public Schools as a Yard Lady at West Parish, and later worked in the cafeteria at West Parish, Gloucester High School and O’Maley. Barbara retired as the head cook at O’Maley after serving the Gloucester School System for over 20 years.
Barbara was a member of the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church. She was a Den Mother for cub scouts for many years. She enjoyed dancing and all types of music. She was an avid bingo player and looked forward to her trips to the casinos with friends. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Rose Baker Senior Center and participated in many activities there.
Before giving up her license due to an eye condition, Barbara enjoyed taking long drives and took many shopping adventures out of town and welcomed anyone who wanted to join her.
Barbara was predeceased by her son David Davis of Essex and is survived by her children, Roy Davis of Bradenton, FL, Glenn Davis of Gloucester, Lee Davis and his wife Maureen of Salem and Faye Medina of Gloucester. She is the loving grandmother to Donna Davis, Emily Davis, Colton Davis, Frank Viator (affectionately known by Barbara as “son # 5”), Jose Medina, Matthew Davis, Lauren Davis and Shannon Davis. She is also survived by her two great grandchildren Ethan and Emma Davis. Barbara also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, close cousins and many good friends.
In honoring with Barbara’s wishes there will be no visiting hours and a celebration of her life will be at the Gloucester House Restaurant in the spring. Donations in her memory may be made to either of the following organizations:
