Barbara M. (McDonald) Watson of Peabody, formerly of Manchester by the Sea, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Watson. She was born February 20, 1927 in New Bedford, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Wilson) McDonald.
Barbara was very active in the Manchester community, having volunteered at the Public Library for many years and as a member of the Council on Aging. She was very involved with the Manchester Womens Club, the Seaside Garden Club and her tennis group at the Manchester Athletic Club. She also worked at the Landmark School for many years. She spent many hours lovingly tending to her beautiful gardens. An avid reader, she was well-versed on many topics and she and Ken traveled extensively during their seventy-three years of marriage.
Surviving her in addition to her husband, Kenneth, is their daughter, Carole ONeil of Manchester by the Sea, their grandson, Phillip W. Rowe of Manchester by the Sea, their great granddaughter, Samantha L. Rowe of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by two sisters, Amy McCauley of Cheshire, CT and Ann Milhomme of Lincoln, RI, cousins, Dawn Costakes of Fairhaven and Axel Magnuson of Manchester by the Sea and also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Malcolm Wilson, Francis and James McDonald.
Her Funeral Service will be held at the First Parish Church Congregational, Manchester by the Sea, on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
