Bernice M. (Amero) White, 96, of Gloucester, wife of the late Douglas J. White, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. Bernice was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, on July 23, 1921, the daughter of the late John S. and Katherine (Robicheau) Amero. She loved raising her children and loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed watching game shows, candlepin bowling and ten pins, as well as watching her favorite sports team, the Red Sox. A very religious and devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church for many, many years. Bernice also loved her bingo and her last word was a resounding, “BINGO!” A wonderful woman will be missed by her many family and friends. She is survived by her three sons, Thomas J. White and his wife, Donna of Gloversville, N.Y., Brian White and his loving significant other and soulmate, Theresa Deveau of Gloucester, and Timothy White; a daughter, Diane Doucette and her husband, Clarence of Lynn, Mass.; her sister, Betty Sampson of Gloucester; and her best friend at Seacoast, Helen Commence, who was like a sister to her. She leaves an extraordinary amount of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention, but all loved dearly. She was predeceased by her son, Ronald White; her brother, Donald Amero; sisters, Sally Doucette, Marsha Frontiero and Bonnie Amero.
Her visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her Funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Saturday, November 18, at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 11 a.m. Her burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Gloucester.
