ROCKPORT, MA - Bette M. (DeCoste) Audano, 86, of Rockport, wife of the late Robert B. Audano Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday evening, February 16, 2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
She was born in Gloucester, Mass., on May 16, 1931, daughter of the late William and Hester DeCoste.
Bette was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1949. She worked as a teller at Manchester Trust in Manchester and for many years in the office of Art Jewelers in Gloucester until the business closed in 2004. She later worked at Nichols' Candies in Gloucester until her retirement in the spring of 2017.
She enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities including gardening, skiing, and time spent at her swimming pool with family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing, particularly to the music of the Wind River Band, and was a member of an adult tap dancing troupe in the 1980s and 1990s.
Bette was dedicated to her family and cherished all gatherings of family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Robert B. Audano Jr. and his wife, Marcia of Rockport; grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Erik of Manchester, Kristopher Sarka of Gloucester, Robert Audano III of Gloucester, Brian Audano of Rockport; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hadley and Grayden Johnson; sister, Janet Kimmence of Gloucester; brother, Donald DeCoste and wife, Joan of South Weymouth; nieces and nephews, Joseph Parisi and his wife, Pamela, and their children, Jake and Kate, Ronald Kimmence Jr., Jeffrey DeCoste and his wife, Kim, and their son Gabriel, and Jonathan DeCoste and his wife, Kate, and their children, Thomas and Jack.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Sarka, and her husband, Stephen Sarka.
A private graveside service will be held in Beechbrook Cemetery at a later date.
