Capt. Christopher C.'s Story

Captain Christopher Charles Tranos, 43, beloved son of Sherry Larrivee of Gloucester, and Leon Tranos of Birmingham, Ala. departed this life on July 3rd after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Christopher, born August 27th, 1972, was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and Rockport, attending schools in both cities and graduating from Gloucester High School. He continued on to graduate from Northeast Maritime Institute in New Bedford. He was an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast and worked professionally as a Tugboat Captain most recently in New York City.
Beyond his extraordinary skills as a mariner, his proudest moments and achievements came in his role as father to his sons, Michael Cole Johnson, Christopher Charles Jr. and Elias Leon Tranos, each of whom he absolutely adored.
In addition to his parents and children, his is survived by his two loving sisters, Katrina Tranos and Kelly (O’Maley) Swicker and her husband, Scott, and nieces and nephews, Ashley Wolf of Portland, Ore., Anthony Burnham Jr., Alexander Frasure, Lily Brown, Alexa Swicker, all of Gloucester and Aaron Swicker of Tampa, Fla., Nicole Spearman of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Emily Gooch of Snellville, Ga.; aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as, countless lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Marie Tranos, Oscar and Dorothy Larrivee, and a sister, Sarah Hunter Graham.
Visiting hours for Christopher will be held in the Greely Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the Cape Ann Bible Church, 8 Thompson Street, West Gloucester. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. At his request, Christopher will be cremated and his ashes cast into the sea which he loved.
