Manchester-by-the-Sea - Carole A. (Angelis) Mastendino, 56, beloved wife of Jeffrey C. Mastendino, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, passed away on Monday evening, March 18, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Medfield on March 19, 1962, she was the daughter to the late Frank and Therese (Donohoe) Angelis.
Carole was a graduate of Medfield High School with the class of 1980 and graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in Communications.
An accomplished athlete, Carole dominated the court playing doubles tennis at Bass River Tennis Club and loved her teammates. She coached numerous Manchester girls' youth teams and the Penguin Hall volleyball team. She had a true gift for encouraging young girls to feel engaged and confident, while having fun and developing relationships.
Whether you knew her personally or not, her status as her four daughters' most committed super fan on the sidelines of every sports game is a testament to her strong family values and cheerful spirit.
Carole was the glue that brought, held and continues to hold her family together through faith, compassion, a strong moral backbone and lots of laughter. Many people, especially friends of the daughters, saw Carole as a strong and influential woman to look to in times of need for advice and encouragement. Her strength, generosity, laughter and enthusiastic cheering will be missed by all who knew her.
She was very devout in her faith as a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Manchester where she also taught religious education. She drew people to the Catholic faith through her dedication to kindness and charity, which is exemplified in countless ways but specifically in her time serving as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick and elderly.
In addition to her husband Jeff, she is survived by her four daughters, Sophia, Olivia, Isabella and Cecilia; her sister Kristen Monahan and husband Philip; her brothers Jimmy Angelis, Steven Angelis and wife Karen, Bruce Angelis and wife Dina, David Angelis and wife Debbie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, at 11 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, Manchester. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
The burial will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02112, or danafarber.jimmyfund.org.
