Charles A. Bouchie Jr., 83, passed away at the Kaplan House in Danvers on Monday morning, July 4, 2016.
Born in Gloucester on November 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Boudreau) Bouchie.
Charlie was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1951. He was a proud Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Early in his career Charlie had a hand in the space program working for General Electric testing rocket engines. He went on to be a reliability engineer, working on our country’s missile defense program for Raytheon for almost 30 years. After retiring, Charlie continued to work as a security guard at the methadone clinic in Gloucester.
Charlie’s favorite pastime was sitting on his deck, enjoying a smoke, watching the boats in the harbor. He was a great dancer in his day, interested in all kinds of music, played the harmonica and was a friend to every dog he ever met. At the end of his life, his greatest joy came from playing with his great-grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his son, Glenn Bouchie and wife Jayne West; his daughters, Deborah Drzymala and husband Ray, Lisa Bouchie and husband, Jon Holland; grandchildren, Arlen Holland, Allegra Holland and her husband, Marcello Ciaramitaro, Hattie Holland and her husband, Aaron Jerome; great-grandchildren, Griffin and Milo Ciaramitaro, and Remy Jerome; his sisters, Carol Doucette, Nancy Bagley and her husband, Paul; sister-in-law, Jacqueline “Jackie” Williams and husband, Earl; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Carol J. (DeCoste) Bouchie and his brother, Gary Bouchie.
A graveside service, open to all, will be held at the end of the summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or online at CareDimensions.org.
