Clifford "Kip" E.'s Story
Clifford “Cliff’ “Kip” E. Hayes, 94, of Rockport, partner of Edward Gonsalo, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester, after a period of failing health.
He was born on December 4, 1922 in Lowell, MA, the youngest child of the late Richard Clark and Clara (Mann) Hayes. He graduated from Lowell High School and continued his education and graduated from Boston University with a Master's in Speech Therapy. Cliff was a World War II veteran having served proudly in the U.S. Navy. He also worked for IBM for 25 years in the accounting division until he retired. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling to many places, just to name a few, Australia, Portugal and Europe. Kip enjoyed gardening, theatre, opera and had belonged to the local day-lily association. He leaves behind his devoted partner of 60 years, Edward and was also the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his sister Annie (Hayes) Palisoul of Lowell and his brothers, Richard E. of Dover, N.H. and Paul C. of Littleton, Mass.
