Mr. Dana W. Haselgard, 69, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Blueberry Hill Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Dana was born August 23, 1947, in Gloucester. He was the son of the late Carlton and Mary (Nickerson) Haselgard. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and also graduated from Gloucester High School.
Dana worked at Varian as an electronics technician for several years until his retirement. He previously worked for Axcelis for several years. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an airplane mechanic and was stationed at Benwar Air Force Base in South Vietnam. Dana lived a simple life as a bachelor. He enjoyed walking on the Boulivard, listening to blues music, and going to blues festivals here in Gloucester as well as Maine. He also enjoyed photography for many years he loved taking photos of Gloucester and the annual schooner festival and tall ships as well as going to Louden race track. He was a hard worker and will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his two sisters, Janis Silva of Gloucester and Diane Haselgard of Beverly; his two brothers, Jack Haselgard and his life partner, Katharine Irvine of Rockport, and David Haselgard of Gloucester. He is the uncle of Tristan and Taylor Haselgard, Rachel Haselgard, Bethany, Brandon and Breanna Silva. He is also survived by his very special two grandnieces, Kaislyn and Aliana.
Dana’s graveside service will be in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Avenue, West Gloucester on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
