Dara Kennedy-Russell, only child of Phillip and Anne Elizabeth Kennedy, passed away on May 30, 2017, in Alliance, Texas, following complications from pneumonia.
Dara was born in Gloucester in 1942, and attended Lynn English High School, graduating at the top of her class of 1959.
She spent most of her years in North Beverly, moving to Pittsburgh and finally to Fort Worth, Texas.
Dara, in her earlier years was an accomplished dancer studying at the Canessa Studio in Lynn. She pursued her career in dance and eventually moved on to become a hair stylist at the Peter Anthony Salon in North Beverly. She also worked at Boston’s Logan International Airport as a security screener.
Dara is survived by her husband, Sanders N. Russell, to whom she was a loyal, loving, and intelligent partner. She also leaves many dear cousins, nephews, and nieces, who saw and appreciated her flair for glamour, love, and devotion to them. She will be missed by many.
Dara’s life will be celebrated at a private family internment at Calvary Cemetery in Gloucester. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 74 Pleasant St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
