Donald L.'s Story
Donald L. Provost, 85, husband of Agnes M. “Dolly” (Longo) (Kluge) Provost of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gloucester on September 24, 1932, son of the late Ernest and Kathleen (McMahon) Provost.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Ammen, receiving the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
He was a very successful commercial fisherman, having fished for over 60 years out of Boston, New Bedford and Gloucester aboard numerous fishing vessels.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching some of his TV favorites, NCIS and the Hallmark Channel. He also was an avid New England sports fan and had a passion for all animals.
Donald will be greatly missed by his family, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Agnes Provost of Gloucester; son, James Kluge and his wife, Linda, and their son, Jason, all of Rockport; two daughters, Lisa Hartwell-Jones and her husband, Leon, and their children, Paul Hartwell and his companion, Samantha Morrow, Steffen Hartwell-Jones, all of Gloucester; Patti Tucker and her husband, Kenneth, and their children, Katelyn, Carolyn and Matthew Tucker, all of Rockport; several other beloved family members; close friend, Theresa “Treet” Doucette and her daughter, Rhonda Tucker, and her son, Rich, all of Gloucester.
He was predeceased by his grandson, David J. Kluge.
In keeping with his wishes, services will be held at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
