Donald (Buzz) Monroe Jr. passed away on Sunday evening, August 13, 2017, after a brief illness. He was the son of Emma (Currier) and Donald C. Monroe, Sr. and brother to Lillian (Shirley) LeVie. Buzz is survived by his two nephews, Donn LeVie Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Brian LeVie of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and many cousins and extended family in Gloucester, Rockport, Lanesville, Salem, Brookline, and Haverhill.
Buzz was born in Rockport, Mass., and lived in Gloucester for many years. As a young man out of the USMC right after WWII, Buzz worked as a lifeguard at Good Harbor Beach. He later became a top salesman for Sears Automotive Center in Boston. Buzz moved to Ft. Lauderdale in the 1960s where he worked at the Bahia Mar Marina and later in retail sales for Jefferson Department Stores before retiring in the early 1990s. He enjoyed the beaches and south Florida sunshine. May he rest in peace.
