DANVERS - Dorothy "Dottie" Tonseth Knudson, of Brooksby Village and longtime resident of Reading and Cape Ann, Gloucester, passed away peacefully at Kaplan House, Danvers. Dottie was a vivacious, generous, and cheerful presence who will be missed by all who knew her.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine as the second daughter of Didrick Tonseth and Ragnhild Heistad Tonseth, both Norwegian Americans. Ms. Tonseth is survived by her sister, Selma Harrington and her husband Jay Harrington, of Houston, Texas, and by many cousins and their prodigy. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted Knudson. Dottie was everything Norwegian. Since 1975 she had been a member of the Morgensolen chapter of the "Sons of Norway," singer in the North Shore Chorus, and an officer of the annual Tonseth-Feyling Family Reunion. Dottie had been a hostess at the "Top of the Hub", a synchronized swim team member in Los Angeles, a singer, an artist, and a caregiver to the elderly.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dottie Knudson will be held on April 7 at 11 a.m. at the Mackintosh Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody. The interment will be on June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Amsbury Cemetery, US Highway 1 (near Rockville Street), Rockport, Maine.
