Gard was born on October 19, 1962, in Auburn, Maine, the son of Robert Thurston Meserve Sr. of Kennebunk, Maine, and the late Nancy (Twaddle) Meserve. Gard graduated from Kennebunk High School in the class of 1981, one year later marrying Lisa Moore and together they raised two children to adulthood along the East Coast. Gard married Sarah Bragdon in 2009 and they made their home in Kennebunk, Maine, before moving to Lake Murray, S.C. Gard had a penchant for the water and it always brought him peace. A lifelong learner, Gard attained his Bachelor of Science, Master of Divinity, and Doctorate, with an emphasis on people-focused leadership. He served as Chief Technology Officer for Clarkson University for 12 years. When he moved to Ellucian, he managed the CIOs and technology departments of Colleges and Universities along the East Coast. He was a gifted leader and mentor to many, leaving an impact he will never fully appreciate, and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his father Robert of Kennebunk and wife Sarah of Lexington, S.C.; he is survived by his children, Katelyn Sweeten and her husband Wesley of Lexington, S.C., Dr. Joseph Meserve of San Diego, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Anjelica LaRochelle of Amesbury, Mass.; three granddaughters, Ellie, Ruthie and Annie Sweeten all of Lexington, S.C.; a brother Robert T. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Nancy Twaddle Meserve, on April 27, 2018. “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.” Lamentations 3:25.
