Damariscotta, Maine - Edie Brown,66 of Damariscotta, Maine, passed away March 14, 2019, after a long battle with COPD. Born in Gloucester to George V. Cabral and Edna (Rich) Cabral. She worked for many years for Mass Coastal Seafood in Gloucester, before moving to Maine, with her husband and children in 1988. She then worked with her husband at Maritime Farms in Newcastle and Damariscotta Hardware. Edie always loved having a good time in her younger years, she could be found dancing and going to parties with family and friends. After her move to Maine, she could be found fishing at Damariscotta Lake with her family, or around the card table playing cards with her family and friends.Edie also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and spending time with her two granddaughters, Hailey and Izabell Brown of Damariscotta. She loved that she got to spend nearly every day and was very excited to find out that she had a grandson on the way. Edie always had a special place in her heart for family. Friends and also her animals which she considered her children. Edie was predeceased by her father George V. and her mother Edna, as well as brothers George Albert and David Cabral. Edie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Dana P. Brown Sr. of Damariscotta, sons Dana Brown Jr. of Nobleboro and Brian Brown and his companion Mei-Ling Cheung of Damariscotta, granddaughters Hailey and Izabell Brown of Damariscotta, brothers, Walter Cabral and his companion Gayla DeCoste, Gary Cabral and his wife Tina, sisters Catherine Cabral, Sharon Porte and Pauline and husband James Santapaola all of Gloucester, and goddaughter, Kelly Tocco and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be honoring her wishes and there will be services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made in her honor to The COPD Foundation.

Very sorry for your loss. My memories of her, were of a loving mother and wife who would do anything for her family. While friends with Dana and Brian, she treated me like one of her own. Rest easy Edie.

Dana I’m so sorry for your loss. Edie will always have a special place in my heart for her loving care she gave to our daughter Liz. My sympathy goes out to you, your sons and family.
