Gloucester - Edward J. Chisholm, 84, of Gloucester, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 29, 2019 at Gloucester Healthcare Center in Gloucester.
Born in Malden, he was the son of the late James D. and Helen (Carberry) Chisholm. He attended Lynnfield High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Baltimore.
Edward was a man of many talents and could fix anything. He was employed as a machinist for many years. During his younger years, he enjoyed doing carpentry on houses in North Reading and working on farms locally.
Mr. Chisholm loved music, especially playing his harmonica and singing. He also was an avid walker, who enjoyed walking along Route 62 from Lynn to North Reading. Edward truly enjoyed being outdoors and in nature. Baseball was his favorite sport to play and he never missed watching his beloved Red Sox on television. He was their number one fan.
Surviving him are three daughters, Barbara LaGarde and her husband Robert of Brockton; Joanne Chisholm of Gloucester and Catherine Gerry of Whitman; two sons, Edward Chisholm of Gardner and Michael Chisholm and his wife Michelle of Lexington, SC; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Russell and her husband Sanford of San Diego, CA and Patricia Lodge of Mashpee and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by five sisters, Helen Coughlin, Elizabeth Sillars, Valerie Wood, Ethel Richie and Genevieve Stanley, two brothers, Valentine Chisholm and Joseph Chisholm and a son-in-law, Michael Gerry.
His Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at Beechbrook Cemetery, Gloucester. A visiting hour will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's name may be made to All Care Hospice, 210 Market Street, Lynn, MA 01901.
