Edward's Story

FRANKLIN, ME: Edward G. Todd, 75, of Franklin, Maine has passed away on March 18, 2016 in his home with his loving wife of 23 years and family at his side.

Ed was born on December 24, 1940 in Gloucester to the late Edward A. Todd and the late Ida Todd (Putaansuu) and his step mother, Florence Todd (Rust). He attended Gloucester Schools and trade schools for mechanics.

Ed worked as a mechanic at the Salem Harbor Station, brick layer as well as many other talents he had.

His passion was music. Growing up he played guitar in several bands until later in life when he became a one man band. He played in many of the Gloucester lounges as well as Beverly, Saugus, Rowley.

Ed loved all animals especially birds, cats and dogs. He took very special care in making sure they were fed and warm whether they were indoor animals or outdoor animals. He would leave the garage door ajar “so the wild animals or stray animals could get in out of bad weather."

He loved cooking and baking cakes. Anyone that knew Ed when he was well had the pleasure of enjoying a banana cake or a chocolate cake.

In addition to his wife, Bertha, Ed is survived by his daughter Renee Hill and her husband, Charles of California. Devoted stepfather to Nancy Goetchius and husband John of Maine, Marjorie Mountain and husband Ralph of Minnesota, Timothy Hobbs of Maine, David Hobbs and fiancee, Sheri Ranco of Maine; siblings, Sylvia I, Stillman. Russell Todd of New York, Linda Brown and her husband, Mark of Gloucester, Dennis Todd of Gloucester, Norma J. Hall of Gloucester, Kenneth E. Todd and wife, Margie of Gloucester, Debra L. Todd of Gloucester, Michael Todd and wife, Brenda of Gloucester, Ronnie D. Todd of Gloucester, Chris J. Todd and wife, Deborah of Gloucester, Donna L. Allen and husband, Rick of Essex; grandson, Noah Pullium of California; grandson Nicholas Pullium and wife, Saleena of Arizona, Tanya Drouin of Gloucester, Ralphie Mountain of Minnesotta, Steven Hobbs of Maine, Isaac Goetchius of Maine, John Goetchius Jr of Maine, Cheyanne Hobbs of Maine, Kyla Hobbs of Maine. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

He was the brother of the late Peter A. Todd and Richard A. Todd.

Cremation arrangements are made with Acadia Burial Cremation Direct of Ellsworth, Maine. Ed will be cremated and a memorial celebration will take place on June 25th at his home, 267 Blackswoods Rd., Franklin, ME.
