Eleonora (Taormina) D’Angelo, 87, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Gloucester. She was the late wife of Marco D’Angelo who passed away in October, 1998.
Eleonora was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy, on December 19, 1929, daughter of the late Mercurio and Ninfa (Bologna) Taormina.
Eleonora was employed by Seafood Kitchens as a fish packer for 20 years. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends and baking her special treats for her many grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Salvatore D’Angelo and his wife, Diane; her daughter, Angela and her husband, Vito of Michigan; her daughter, Ninfa Briguglio and her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Maria Diprima and husband, Steven of Boston. She is also survived by her brother, Dominic and his wife, Grace of Gloucester. She was predeceased by her siblings, Rosa Lograsso, Francesca DiMercurio, Pietro Taormina, Grace Taormina, Franco Taormina, and Giovanna Maggiore. Eleonora has eight grandchildren, Tom Maniaci and wife, Serafina of Michigan, Josie Maniaci and Marco Maniaci of Michigan, Stefania (Manzella) Dodd and husband, Tim of California, Elena (Manzella) Shalhoub and husband, Carlos of Nigeria, David D’Angelo and wife, Kellie, Brian D’Angelo and wife, Kelsey, Laura (D’Angelo) Watson and husband, Topher, all of Gloucester; five great-grandchildren, Vito, Sabrina, and Stella Maniaci, all of Michigan, Matthew Dodd of California, and Jacob D’Angelo of Gloucester.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Saturday, July 15, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Prospect Street at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
