Emily B.'s Story
Emily B. (Leaman) Strangman, 95, wife of the late George D. Strangman, of Gloucester, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 24, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in West Gloucester on June 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ellen (Herrick) Leaman. Emily was a graduate of the Montserrat School of Art. She was an accomplished artist and well known for her hand painted Christmas Cards.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Pamela Burke and her husband Jerry of Gloucester; her loving sons, George H. Strangman and wife, Cheryl of Jennings, Mo., Mark Strangman and wife, Joyce of Pittsburgh, Pa., Brian Strangman and wife, Jennifer of Gloucester; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Lee and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband George, she was predeceased by her daughter, Trudy O’Connor.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 27th at 11 a.m. in Beechbrook Cemetery. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Emily’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
