Emily's Story

Mrs. Emily D. (Peterson) Poole, 95, of Rockport passed away on Saturday morning July 8, 2017, at her home following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Walter Poole.
Emily was born September 16, 1921, in Rockport. She was the daughter of the late Oke and Anna (Norberg) Peterson. She was a lifelong resident of Rockport.
She worked at Gorton’s as a Secretary for many years until her retirement.
Emily enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including Marilyn J. Sears of Gloucester who took care of Emily for many years; and her sister-in-law, Norma Peterson of Florida. She is also survived by many caring neighbors, including Michelle and Dan Black and Maura Wadlinger.
Emily's niece, Marilyn, would like to thank Jane Edwards and her girls from Caring for Caring, Action in Gloucester, and all the neighbors and friends who cooked and helped Emily over the past few years.
She was the sister of the late Anna Chick, Alice Munroe, Henrietta Irvin, Esther J. Lake, Eleanor Ashe and Arthur O. Peterson.
