Flora S. "Fina"'s Story
Flora S. “Fina” Maniaci, 85, of Gloucester, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Gloucester Healthcare surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
She was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy on July 1, 1932, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca (Pizzimenti) Maniaci.
Fina was educated in Italy and came to the United States in 1967. She lived in St. Louis, Mo. and Chicago, Ill. before settling in Gloucester. She was a hard worker and worked for many years at Ocean Crest Seafoods before retiring in 1994. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping and going to bingo. She loved to garden, using the vegetables from her garden to cook for the family, especially Sunday lunch. She devoted her life to her family. Being around her family and many friends was most important to her. Fina was a caring, loving and kind person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Antonio “Franco” Maniaci and his wife, Marisa; sister, Mary Grace “Graziella” Ciaramitaro and her husband, Anthony all of Gloucester; nieces and nephews, Rosemarie Ciaramitaro, Francesca Giacalone and her husband, Anthony, Joseph Ciaramitaro and his wife, Annette, Mary Grace Celata and her husband John all of Gloucester; nephews, Francesco Maniaci and his wife, Jennifer of Gloucester, Piero Maniaci and his wife Maria of Beverly, Alessandro Maniaci of Gloucester and many great-nieces and great-nephews who were all like her grandchildren whom she cherished; dear cousins, Caterina (Palazzolo) Puglisi, Maria Grazia (Palazzolo) Olivero both of Italy; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Maniaci and Francesca Maniaci both of Italy.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Salvatore Maniaci, Vincenzo Maniaci and Piero Maniaci.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, November 6, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held on Sunday, November 5, from 3 to 6 p.m.
