GLOUCESTER: Mr. George S. Anderson, Jr., 58, of Gloucester passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Lahey Clinic Medical Center after a brief illness with his loving family at his side at a beautiful sunset. He was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Johnson) Anderson.

George was born May 30, 1957, in Port Hueneme, Calif., son of Barbara A. (Cook) Anderson of Gloucester, and the late George Sundell Anderson, Sr. he lived in Gloucester for most of his life a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1976. George also attended Johnson and Whales and Essex Aggie where he studied Cooking.

He worked at Chartwells at Salem State University as a Chef for several years. He previously was a chef for many restaurants on Cape Ann and the North Shore.

George was a member of Trinity Congregational Church. He was an avid Red Sox Fan and was also a Boston Sports Fan. George was as a great man and lovingly known as Guncle by his nieces and nephew.

In addition to his loving wife and mother, George is survived by his sisters, Ivy G. Ross of Woodstock, Conn., and Patricia C. Amaral and her husband, Howie of Gloucester; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Helen Johnson of Gloucester; his brother-in-law, Lendall Johnson of Rockport; his nieces and nephew, Christina C. Drowne and her husband, Stephen of Connecticut, Howard Amaral, Jr. of Gloucester, and Emily Ross of Connecticut; his two great nieces, Ivy and Lily Drowne and great nephew, Austin Drowne.

George’s memorial service will be in Trinity Congregational Church, 70 Middle Street, Gloucester, on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Donations in George’s memory may be made to Trinity Congregational Scholarship Fund or the Cape Ann Animal Aid Christopher Cutler Animal Shelter, 4 Paws Lane Gloucester, MA 01930.
