Gerolama "Gerri"'s Story
Gerolama “Gerri” Lovasco, 93, wife of the late Capt. Peter J. Lovasco of Gloucester passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 10, 2017, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Garfield, N.J., on January 27, 1924, daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Favaloro) Parco.
Gerri attended Gloucester Schools. She worked at Mighty Mac as a stitcher for over 20 years and later as a hostess for the Gloucester House Restaurant, the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn and Twin Lights on the Back Shore
Gerri loved cooking and baking especially for family gatherings. Due to her cooking expertise, she collaborated on the Fisherman’s Wives Association Cookbook, where she was one of the founding members and vice president. She was very proud of the fact she and a group of fisherman’s wives traveled to Washington to speak on behalf of the Magnuson Act. She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society, the St. Peter’s Club, Our Lady of Good Voyage Guild, Rose Baker Senior Center and was on the Board of the Gloucester Marine Railways.
Gerri will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
She is survived by her children, Jerome Lovasco and his wife, Sandra of Gloucester, Gaye Rowe and her husband, John of Marlborough and Milena Muise, wife of the late Peter Muise, of Gloucester; grandchildren, Jerome Lovasco and his companion, Lupita Mendosa, Peter J. Lovasco and his companion, Merideth Bertolino, Shelley Tadesco and her husband, Michael, John Rowe III, Alycia LeDuc and her husband, Stephen, J. Edward Enos and his wife, Beth, Tiffany Jackman and her husband, Mark, Christopher Enos and his wife, Katie; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Joseph and Tess LeDuc, Ashlyn Rowe, John Rowe IV, Kendra and Ben Enos, Zoey and Emalee Jackman, Madsion Valenti-Lovasco and Bella Bertolino; sisters, Ida Bammarito and Carmela Scola; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Parco, Mary Parco, Vita Santuccio, wife of the late Frank; sister-in-law, Nina Brancaleone, wife of the late Nino of Florida; special brother-in-law, Ambrose Lovasco and his wife, Marlan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Frontiero and her husband, Sam; brothers, Tony Parco and Joe Parco; brothers-in-law, Harry Bammarito, Larry Scola, Sam Lovasco and his wife, Mamie, Carlo Lovasco and his wife, Ginny.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Wednesday, November 15, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
