Gertrude "Peggy" Donovan Shea

January 10, 1932 - September 08, 2018

Gertrude Peggy Donovan Shea Falmouth, MA - The family of Gertrude (Peggy) Donovan Shea wish to share the news of her passing on September 8, 2018.
Born in Rockport, to Reinhard and Gertrude Speck, she was the youngest of five siblings, and the only daughter. She is survived by her brother Francis Speck of Sioux City, and predeceased by her brothers, Staniford, Ralph, and Robert Speck.
She graduated from Rockport High School and later from Mass Bay Community College where she achieved her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in long-term care for many years.
Peggy is survived by three children, Linda Aitken of Mashpee, Pam Nelligan and her husband Steve of Holly Ridge, N.C., and Michael Donovan and his wife Dawn of Centerville. She will also be missed by six grandchildren, Lance Nelligan and his wife Jenny, Carrie Nelligan Riccardi and her husband Nick, Kiley Donovan and her husband Beto Skubs, Kyle Nelligan and his wife Megan, Chris Donovan and his wife Helen, and Jack Aitken and his wife Daphne. She leaves eight great-grandchildren as well. She loved them all.
Peggy’s life was shared with many friends and colleagues who, like her family, loved her enthusiasm for gardening, crafts, astrology, astronomy, geology, camping, classical music and traveling.
She loved people and she loved her cats.
She had the love of many friends in Rockport, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Her family would like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, the staff and administration of Royal Falmouth Nursing Center, where she was cared for with respect, sensitivity and love. We are forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, please remember her by supporting a charity of your choice which helps others in need. Her spirit will then continue to make the world a better place.
God Bless you, Mom. You did good.
A memorial service will be held in Rockport at a future date.
