Harry J. Cusick, 89, of Gloucester, passed away on May 2, 2016, at Den Mar Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rockport. Harry was born in Gloucester on September 5, 1926, son of the late Grassia & Ethel Cusick. He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1944. Harry proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. Two days after returning from the service, he went to work for Parkhurst Marine Railway (later Gloucester Marine Railways). Harry served as the shipyard's general manager and after 49 years he retired in 1995. In recognition of his shepherding countless vessels, in 2013 the new Harry Cusick Wharf at Rocky Neck was dedicated in his honor – marked by a black capstan affixed to the edge of the new pier facing the downtown shoreside. Harry is survived by his son, David Cusick, husband of Jane; and daughter, Karen Faison, wife of Christopher, of Wilmington and their children, Christopher II and Miranda; and great-granddaughters, Nevaeh and Maya. He also leaves stepchildren, Karen Roberts and Kandy Roberts, wife of Rich Salit of Barrington, R.I.; and grandchildren, Eli and Story Salit and Sara Roberts; and son-in-law, Mike Hill. Harry was predeceased by his son, Gary J. Cusick; wife, Louise (Troy) Cusick; and grandson, Dylan Hill.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
