PEABODY - James Johnson passed away February 28, 2018, of health complications, at NSMC Salem Hospital, with family and friends at his side.
James was born in Gloucester, Mass., on December 23, 1959, and moved to Beverly around the age of eight. As an adult he lived in Salem, Beverly, Gloucester, and finally moved to Peabody in 2009. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed such authors as Franklin W. Dixon, J.D. Robb, J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. He enjoyed watching sports, such as wrestling, hockey, football and baseball. Over the last five years, he managed to accrue 1,679 Super Balls. His main passion was music, and enjoyed listening to bands such as Atlanta Rhythm Section, Bee Gees, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Eagles, and the Beatles.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Vince Rose (Scola) Johnson, and his cats, Wizard and Tajira. He is survived by Starranne, his girlfriend of nine years; longtime friends, Peter Gunn, Joyce Hooper, and Jessica Ireland; as well as other friends, several members of the Scola and Johnson families, a step-daughter and an estranged wife.
