Jay F. Smith, 72, of Rockport, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2017.
He was born on April 29, 1945, in Cambridge, Mass. to Frederick A. Smith, Jr. and Erma P. (Clayton).
He graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1963.
He was a machinist and co-owner of Smith Brothers Machine Shop with his brothers.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Georgia (Fritz); children, Christopher and wife, Melissa, Katheryn and husband, CJ, James and partner, Allison; grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Jillien, Joshua and wife, Heather, Tyler, Haleigh, Whitney, Rachael, Ryan Smith, and Elizabeth Collins. He is also survived by his brothers, George and wife, Michelle, Rick and wife, April. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Kenny and wife, Linda.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration Jay's life, held on Sunday, July 23, at the Gloucester Fraternity Club on 27 Webster St., from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
