Jimmie L. Lloyd, a resident of Chelmsford for 40 years, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on April 10, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1928, in Monticello Arkansas, the beloved son Will and Buena Mae (O’Fallon) Lloyd.
He was married to the love of his life, Ann (Demogenes) Lloyd for 56 years, until her death in 2004. He was a retired 23 year Army Veteran, and his last assignment before retirement was as an ROTC Instructor at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts.
He was a member of the Lion’s Club of Gloucester and former member of the Tryian Lodge A. F. & A.M. and the St George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Mass. Jimmie began his love of cooking in the service and went on to own, with his wife, Ann and girls working right along with him, Lloyd’s Restaurant in Gloucester, Mass., as well as Jack's Diner in Chelmsford Center. He was famous for his seafood dinners and personality with all customers.
He will be remembered for his love and pride of his family, sense of humor, hard work, love of gardening, trips to Gloucester and Cape Cod, his fierce loyalty to his family and friends and how he connected with people.
Jimmie is survived by his four daughters, Ellen and Jane Lloyd of Chelmsford, Patti Lloyd of Yarmouthport, Mass., and Christina Lloyd Carey and her husband, Brian of Dennis, Mass.; and four outstanding and loving grandsons, Alexander Gleason, Christopher, Nicholas and Zachary Carey, who have experienced wonderful and cherished memories and mentorship with their PaPou.
Relatives and friends will be received at the M.R. Laurin Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Thursday, April 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral will take place Friday, April 14 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service in the funeral home will be at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
