John D.'s Story
Mr. John D. MacKillop, 73, of Danvers, died unexpectedly, July 12, 2016 at Beverly Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and close firends.
Born in Gloucester, he was the son of the late John A. and Hope P. (Smith) MacKillop. He was raised and educated in Gloucester and attended Gloucester High School.
Mr. MacKillop had been employed at G.T.E. Sylvania for over 30 years until the time of his retirement.
John was a loving father who enjoyed spending his time camping, fishing and wood working. He was a true car enthusiast. He enjoyed all types of automobiles especially those of the antique variety and racing cars. He relished the time spent at the Friday and Saturday night races in Epping, N.H. He had a passion for the ocean and fishing and as a young man worked and owned his own fishing trawler out of Gloucester. He was an avid professional wrestling fan, loved to bowl and was ardent Boston Bruins fan, but above all else he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
From a young age John always had a connection with animals, from his youth riding horses to his grand doggies, Bailey and Oreo, John was truly an animal lover and he passed his passion for animals on to his children.
John is survived by his daughter, Laurie Ann MacKillop of Danvers, his siblings, Gerald, Clifford and Dennis MacKillop, Susie, Sally and Ronnie Hurst and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
