John W.'s Story
John W. Randazza, Jr., passed away peacefully at Princeton Hospital, Birmingham, Ala., after a battle with a long illness. John was born in Waltham on Nov. 17, 1953, to Rosalie (Mineo) Randazza and the late Capt. John W. Randazza. Raised in Gloucester, he graduated in 1972. He went on to pursue his dream of becoming a chef by attending and graduating from the Culinary Institute of America. He also attended BC while working as a chef there. He moved south from Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, finally settling in Alabama, where he made his home for the last 30 years while fulfilling his dream as a head chef at hotels and country clubs.
He is survived by sons, Shawn, Jason, husband of Dr. Molly Colon; and a daughter, Jessica Randazza, fiancée of Josh Pade. He is also survived by his wife, Wanda (Tyree); two stepsons, stepdaughter, and two step-grandchildren. He leaves behind sisters, Ann-Marie, Annette wife of Lori Anthony, Debbie wife of Tony Frontiero; and a brother, Anthony husband of Beverly Randazza; as well as many nieces, a nephew, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
There will be a celebration of life at Captain Carlos, Harbor Loop, Gloucester on Sept. 16, 2017, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friedreich Ataxia Foundation, or charity of your choice.
