Gloucester - Joseph W. Roderick, 52, of Gloucester, passed away with his family and friends by his side following a brief illness. Born in Beverly on Nov. 24, 1967, son of Gil Roderick Jr. and Judy (Palmer) Adams.
Joe attended Gloucester Public Schools then began working on the waterfront in Rockport and Gloucester. Joe enjoyed metal detecting, collecting old bottles and he was an avid fisherman. Joe was a very social person and could strike a conversation with anyone. In later years, he took an interest in ghost and spirits and the afterlife of humans. Joe loved spending time with family and friends especially his step-father Joe Mondello, and brother Jon Mondello.
Joe is survived by his parents, Gil Roderick Jr. and wife Patti of N.H., and his mother Judy (Palmer) Adams and her husband Lenny also of N.H.; two brothers, Gil Roderick and his wife Christine of Gloucester, Jon Mondello and his partner Sarah of Gloucester; his step-father Joe Mondello and wife Jacquie and his maternal grandmother Jeanette Palmer; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. As well as two longtime friends and mentors Joseph McCormack and Bob Morris Sr. He was predeceased by one brother, Jamie Roderick; his paternal grandparents Gil and Priscilla Roderick; and his maternal grandfather William Palmer. Joe's infectious laugh and smile will be missed by many.
In keeping with Joe's wishes, there will be a celebration of his life at the Bayview Brotherhood Club on Sat., March, 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. For online guestbook, please visit
