Joseph Scola, 84, husband of Rosalia (Favaloro) Scola, of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Gloucester on December 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Pauline (Testaverde) Scola.
Joe worked as a fish cutter at Ipswich Maritime for many years before retiring. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. He was a long time member of the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly.
In addition to his wife, Rosalia, he is survived by his son, Lawrence Scola and fiancé, Doris Rivera; his daughter, Roseann Wayrynen; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Macie Wayrynen, Sophia and Andrew Scola, Rosalia and Olivia Cahoon; son-in-law, Mark Cahoon; son-in-law, Chris Wayrynen; his best friend and brother, John Scola and wife, Kathleen; brother, Paul Scola; and his sisters, Katie Cavanaugh and Phyllis Misuraca.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Theresa Cahoon and his son, Joseph Scola, Jr.; his brothers, Lawrence and Peter Scola; his sisters, Rose Misuraca, Pauline Linquata and Maryann Jones.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Wednesday, November 8, at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
There are no visiting hours.
