Julia L. (Ciulla)'s Story
Julia L. (Ciulla) Guarrasi, 90, of Gloucester, passed away at home on Saturday morning following an extended illness, with her loving granddaughter by her side.
Julia was born on April 27, 1927, in Gloucester. She was the daughter of the late Antonino and Rose (Favalora) Ciulla. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she graduated from Gloucester High School in 1945. Julia worked as secretary to the principal for many years, both at Central Grammar School as well as Fuller School until her retirement. She always loved children, and truly enjoyed the time she spent with the students.
One of her many passions was gardening. In the warmer months she could be found outside planting beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, in between lounging in the sun on her patio. She loved dark chocolate in every form. Julia also loved going to yard sales, often-times accompanied by her cousins, who were also her lifelong best friends. What meant the most to her was family. She looked forward to having her whole family over every Sunday for lunch. She also enjoyed hosting holiday parties, cook-outs, and birthdays. She loved animals, and was never without at least one cat or dog throughout her whole life. In her later years, Julia's greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always said her favorite role in life was that of grandmother.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie A. Guarrasi of Gloucester, and her son, Anthony J. Guarrasi and his wife, Janet M. of Newton, N.H.; grandchildren, Nikki Parisi, Anthony Parisi and his wife, Renee, Joanna Brancaleone and her husband, Mario, Peter Parisi, and Christina Lewis; great-grandchildren, Julianna Lucido, Vanessa Lucido, and Chloe Parisi; sister-in-law, Betty Ciulla of Gloucester; nieces and nephew, Rose Provost, Anthony Ciulla and his wife, Mary, and Rosemary Ciulla and her longtime partner, Chris; as well as nieces and nephews on the Guarrasi side.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Parisi, as well as her bothers, Thomas and James Ciulla, and her sister, Mary Ciulla.
