Rockport, MA - Karen Marie (Fay) Jylkka, of Rockport, passed peacefully on the 10th of April, 2019. She was born on April 14, 1944, the second child of nine, to Anna (Condon) and Frederick Fay.

Karen graduated from St. Ann's in Gloucester, class of 1962. After high school she entered the convent at Sisters of Mercy in Windham, N.H., where she taught elementary students. Following years in the convent she met and married Everett Jylkka. Her heart's dream was fulfilled when together they had three daughters. She shared her love of baking, crafting, and gardening with her daughters and later her grandchildren. Karen was her girls' softball coach and was always the most enthusiastic cheerleader and fan for her girls and her grandkids in all endeavors.

For 20 years Karen was a home health aid for the Visiting Nurses Association. She created a lasting impact on the families with whom she worked, with her gentle manner, compassion and easy humor. She had a way of making everyone she came in contact with feel special.

Karen devoted her life to the love and care of others. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, dear friends and members of her church, who will forever remember her positive energy and her loving, generous spirit. Karen is survived by devoted brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Diana Fay of Saugus, Paul and Peggy Fay of Rockport and John Fay. Forever holding her memory dear are also her three daughters, Kimberly Lorden of Rockport, Tanya Amero and husband Adam of Hamilton, Alicia D'Annolfo and husband Michael of Rockport and seven beloved grandchildren, Haley, Hannah and Karlee Lorden, Megan and Sydney Amero, and Trevor and Kaitlyn D'Annolfo; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Karen is now reunited in spirit with her parents, and siblings Brenda, Lorraine, Peter, Barbara and Mary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to further the research of Parkinson's Disease or to Rockport Baptist Church.

Family would be honored to have you join the service in memory of Karen at the Rockport Baptist Church, Saturday, May 4, at 4 p.m.
