Karen is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, John; her three children, Laura, John Jr. and Phyllis; and her brother, Paul (Billy) Young. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Paul, and her brother, Edward W. Young.
The most important things in Karen's life were her family and her faith. Making it a priority to help others, she could often be found volunteering at her church, socializing with her family and friends, or knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the Gloucester Assembly of God Church, 211 Washington St., Gloucester, MA, and will be followed by a private burial among immediate family.
