Kathleen R.'s Story
Mrs. Kathleen R. "Katie" (Noyes) Jones, 91, of Gloucester, died peacefully, Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Bear Hill Nursing Center, Stoneham, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Rodgers) Noyes. She was raised and educated in Gloucester and was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
A lifelong resident of the city of Gloucester, Katie was well known for her out going, no nonsense and generous personality. She always had children in tow, whether it was her grandchildren, the neighborhood kids or someone who needed an emergency babysitter. She volunteered for many years driving patients from Gloucester to Boston for their medical appointments. She was always willing and able to lend a hand and could always be counted on for help, a quality she has passed on to her family.
A loving mother and grandmother, Katie received her greatest enjoyment from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being involved in their activities, was most proud of their accomplishments and milestones and was their greatest advocate over the years. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many lives she touched over the years.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Judy Sarofeen of Gloucester; her son, James Jones and his wife, Janet of Winchester; four grandchildren, Jonathan Sarofeen of Gloucester, Nicole Sarofeen of Boston, Elizabeth Moginot and her husband, Fran of Reading and Sarah Girotti and her husband, Gary of Winchester; six great-grandchildren, Cole Moginot and Justin and Emily Girotti, Paul Moginot, Jacob Moginot, Jonathan Cunha; and one great-great-granddaughter, Maria Moginot.
