Kathryn A.'s Story
Kathryn A. ”Kate” (Doucette) McCarthy, 64, wife of Andrew F. McCarthy of Gloucester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday morning, October 14, 2017, at Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington.
She was born in Gloucester on July 2, 1953, daughter of the late Waldon and Sally (Amero) Doucette.
Kate was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1971. While working at LePage’s as an assembler, she met the love of her life, Andrew, and they were happily married for 29 years.
She very much enjoyed taking day trips and rides around the backshore, smelling the fresh ocean air and admiring the beautiful waves. She loved listening to Classic Rock music.
Kate also loved cooking especially for her neighbors and just recently enjoyed doing crossword puzzles the hard ones in the New York Times. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Andrew F. McCarthy of Gloucester; twin sons, Joshua and Jason Kesterson, both of Florida; daughter, Lori Rodrigues and her husband, Miguel of Florida; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Jane Selig and her husband, Dean of Gloucester; three brothers, Jack O’Hanley, Peter Doucette, James “Jim’ Doucette and his wife, Lisa, all of Gloucester.
Her memorial service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday, October 18, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The burial will be held privately.
