Kathryn Melendy, 72, passed away in Boston on May 24, 2016. She lived life on her terms and passed on her terms.
She was born in Manchester, N.H., on March 28, 1944, the daughter of the late George and Alice (Magarian) Poulin. Kathryn was the loving wife of Vincent Melendy.
She held a MBA from Suffolk University through their Executive Program where her and her husband were one of the first husband and wife teams to graduate, a BS from Roger Williams College and was a Registered Nurse.
Kathryn was the CEO of Aurum Network, LLC, the largest network of independently owned post-acute care providers in Massachusetts. Kathryn had also served as the Executive Director of Amesbury Health Center, a subsidiary of Anna Jacques Hospital and the President and CEO of Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, Mass.
She had presented numerous lectures on Health Care issues at both the National and State levels, as well as a guest lecturer at colleges.
Kathryn had a passion for running, playing tennis and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. She enjoyed music and the theater. She was also active in Key West with the Helpline Organization and the Key West Sail & Power Squadron. She graduated from the Key West Ambassador Program. She was an avid tennis player at Bayview Park. She organized many holiday social picnics for the Bayview Tennis players and assisted Paul Findlay, Bayview Tennis Pro, with all his great tennis tournaments.
Besides her husband, Kathryn leaves behind her children, Kelly Melendy of Gloucester and Kevin Melendy of Denver; three grandchildren, Christian Pina, Jake Vincent Melendy, and Luke George Melendy; and a brother, William Poulin of Florida and New Hampshire.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be scheduled in Key West later this year.
