Leanne C. Robinson

November 21, 2018

Leanne C. Robinson Gloucester, MA - Of Brace Cove, passed away peacefully on November 21, at the age of 74 after being diagnosed with ALS. She was the widow Thomas A. (Tim) Robinson who died in 1986, and the mother of Blair A. of Magnolia, Jay J. of Salem, and Ross C. of Cape Breton, N.S. and is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Chassea and two granddaughters, Blakeley and Elibet.
Leanne was born in Indiana, lived in California, and moved to Newton, Mass. when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Newton North High School and went to Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. for two years. She transferred and graduated from Boston University CLA '66 where she was a member Delta Delta Delta sorority and later became the President of the Alumni chapter. The summer after college she took her first trip to Europe and then later that fall bought a Greyhound bus ticket – 99 days for $99 and traveled around the United States visiting friends and sorority houses. This was the beginning of her life-long love of travel. In January 1966 she was hired into the Officer Training Program at the First National Bank of Boston and worked there for 10 years before retiring to be a fulltime mother to her three sons.
Leanne moved to Gloucester after her marriage in 1970 and was very involved in the community. She was a member of the Cape Ann Garden Club, a Deacon at the Trinity Congregational Church, on the board of Gloucester Pride Stride and a member of the Bass Rocks Beach Club. She was also a Cub Scout den leader for all three of her sons.
When her boys were raised she once again returned to her love of travel by responding to an ad, “ Love to travel? Why not get paid to travel.” She completed the training and embarked on a twenty-five year career traveling the world as a Group Leader/Program Director for several different companies; most recently Road Scholar.
A celebration of Leanne’s life will be held at Trinity Congregational Church on Middle St. in Gloucester on December 15, at 10:30 a.m.
Donations in Leanne’s memory may be sent to the scholarship fund at Trinity Congregational Church or to Compassionate Care ALS, a support agency for those with ALS.

Irreplaceable and generous hostess. So much fun at the Beach Club and her home. Peace to her sons who know how loved she was.

I have many "fun memories" of Leanne and I - especially our trip to Palm Beach together....Leanne and I were born on the same day and year and each got married on the same day and year.....she always said our "friendship" was mean't to be... may this "travel" be her best one yet !! Love to Jay, Ross and Blair and family.
