GLOUCESTER - Lois V. (Powers) Arnold, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018. She was the treasured wife of Richard E. Arnold and devoted mother of Janet M. Arnold, Paula M. Wyka and Sally A. Arnold and her husband, Mark Noonan and cherished grandmother of Nathan W. Noonan, Lyndsay Kilgour, Andrea Wyka and Scott Sullivan and great-grandmother of Hunter Joseph, Maddie and Teddy Kilgour.
She was predeceased by her dear brothers Robert and John (Jack) H. Powers, III; sisters Phyllis Trowbridge, Margaret Anne Hinckely, and Carolyn (Mimi) Rittenburg and her son-in-law, Gregory Rigby. She was a beloved teacher of many for 46 years at St. Mel Day School.
Visiting hours are on Monday, March 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Tuesday, March 13 at 9 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Ann's Church, 60 Prospect St, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, East Gloucester.
In lieu of flowers, walk Good Harbor Beach, read to your children and grandchildren, do a daily crossword puzzle, dance, sing and watch Jeopardy, or donate in her name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
