Louise L.'s Story

Louise L. (Flisak) Deacon, 97, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at home with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of the late Archie K. Deacon with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Louise was born on August 25, 1918 in Lodi, N.J., daughter of the late Anthony and Honora (Meisser) Flisak. She grew up in Salem and lived in Malden before residing in Gloucester for the past 67 years. She was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1936 and Salem Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1939.
After raising her family, Louise worked as a Registered Nurse at the Cape Ann Medical Center for over 20 years, retiring in 1988. She previously worked as an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher.
Louise loved her family, her church, her music and her puzzle books. She also loved gardening, was an avid volleyball player, square dancer and line dancer. Louise was the Organist and pianist at the Riverdale Methodist Church and Wesley Methodist Church, until she retired at the age of 90. Louise was loved by many and will be fondly remembered by all who loved her.
She is survived by her four children Frederick Deacon and his wife Carol of So. Dennis, Barbara Rose of Gloucester, Marcia Schissler and her husband, Lt. General Mark Schissler, USAF, of Brussels, Belgium, Neil Deacon and his wife, Frances of Gloucester; her brother, Richard Flisak of Nashua, N.H.; her sister, Aline Zmijewski of Beverly; her devoted grandchildren, Melissa Schissler, Lt. Mark Schissler, USAF, Heather Brennan and her husband Damian, and Derek Deacon, her cherished great grandchildren CPL Matthew Brennan, USMC and his wife Emily, Sean Brennan and Ethan Brennan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Edmund Flisak.
Louiseā€™s Memorial Service will be in the Gloucester United Methodist Church, 436 Washington St. Gloucester on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. For online condolences and register book please visit www.pikenewhall.com.
