DECATUR, IL: Margaret A. Andersen, 82, of Decatur formerly of Gloucester, Mass., passed away at 10:35 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016, at Heartland Health Care Center in Decatur, Ill. She was born on May 5, 1933, in Gloucester, Mass., to James T. and Margaret A. (Melanson) O’maley. Margaret married Charles R. Longo on February 2, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1956. She later married Norman C. Andersen on December 14, 1993. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents, daughter, Sharon A. (Longo) Anderton, and stepson, Robert Andersen. Surviving her are two children, James D. Sliffy of Decatur, Ill., and Mary Ellen (Sliffy) Carmack of Canton, Ill.; seven grandchildren, James, William, and Robert Anderton of Gloucester, Mass., Sarah Carmack of Canton, Ill., Brian (Sheila) Sliffy of Woodstock, Ill., Jennifer Sliffy of Lena, Ill., Donald Sliffy of Decatur, Ill.; great-grandson, Evan James Sliffy of Woodstock, Ill.; brother, Thomas (Barbara) O’Maley of Rockport, Mass.; and stepdaughter, Carol (Peter) Evans of Austria.
Cremations rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery in Gloucester, Mass., at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
