Margaret Lay's Story
Margaret Alice Maze Jenks Lay Hart, died peacefully at Beverly Hospital. Margaret was the daughter of the late Harry Maze Jenks and Martha (Agerter) Jenks of Wolverhampton, England.
Margaret moved to the United States in the 1930s and graduated from the Jokake School in Phoenix, Ariz. in 1937. She then went to UCLA, Scripp, and Wellesley. Margaret was a nurses aide (candy striper) when she met Peter M. Hart in Los Angeles in 1942 and married in 1943. They had five children and lived in Woodbury, CT, Gloucester, Mass., and Chestertown, Md., before Peter Sr. died in 2012.
Margaret lived the last few years of her life at BrightView Senior Living in Danvers, Mass. She was an avid reader letter writer, swimmer, and walker.
Margaret was predeceased by son, Alfred L. Hart II and brother Terry Jenks.
She is survived by son Peter Murray Hart, Jr. and his wife Martha (Kite) Hart of Gloucester, Mass., daughter Martha Hart Honders of Newcastle, Nevis, son John and his wife Lori Pearson-Hart of Lynn, Mass. and daughter, Angela and her husband, Greg Smith of Venice, Fla. She also leaves grandchildren, Alexandra Hart McClain, Emelyn Hart, William Hart, Augustus Honders, Kelsey and Dana Griffin, and four great-grandchildren.
An interment will follow in the fall in Waterbury, Conn.
