Margo's Story

ROCKPORT- Margo Doughty Ashdon, 79 of Rockport, passed peacefully at the Kaplan House in Danvers after a four year battle with Multi Myeloma. She was the loving wife of Henry "Tony" Ashdon for over 60 years. The daughter of Joseph Bayne Doughty, PhD. and Macel Fleshman; and sister of four siblings living in Charleston, S.C.
Margo was an artist and graduate with four years of high honors with a BA in oil painting and art history from Mass College of Art. She was a former member of the Rockport Town Owned Art Comimittee and work at the Polls of Precinct 3 for many years. She was a Life Member of: Sandy Bay Historical Society, Greenbrier Historical Society and the Germanna Foundation. She was preceded by three children and leaves a daughter, A. Amy Ashdon of
Dedham, Mass. Her great joys were art and history, the wild life of the South Woods, her two cats, and walking the byways of Rockport. For over 40 years she traced her family ancestry, she was the decedent of thousands of noteworthy ancestors and could have been a member of the James Town Society, First Family's of Virginia, Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of the United Confederacy, and many more such organizations.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
