Marilyn R. (Ryan)'s Story

Mrs. Marilyn R. (Ryan) Quinn, 86, of Gloucester passed away Thursday morning at home with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of the late James E. Quinn.
Marilyn was born September 15, 1929 in Gloucester, daughter of the late Patrick and Mildred (Thompson) Ryan. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester, a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1947.
She worked at the Gloucester Housing Authority as a Section 8 Housing Manager for 15 years until her retirement in 1992. Marilyn previously worked as an Insurance Billing Clerk at Cape Ann Medical for Dr. O’Donnell and Dr. Jedrey for many years.
Marilyn was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.
Marilyn was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed Ball Room Dancing, was an avid Bowler, and was a member of the Cape Ann Hot Dog League. She loved the Red Sox, Jets and watching golf. She especially enjoyed spending time on the Boulevard. She was a past member of the American Legion and was a member of their color guard.
She is survived by her loving children, Debra Nardella and her husband, Anthony of Virginia, Julie Primevara and her fiancé, Michael of Framingham, Doreen Scola and her husband, Sam of Gloucester and David Quinn and his wife, Tricia of Gloucester; his grandchildren, Meghan Loren and her husband, Joshua, Salvatore Scola and his wife Eden, Kyle Scola, Margaret Nardella, Patrick Primevara, Tyler Primevara, Mackenzie and Curtis Quinn. Her great-grandchildren, Quinn Rose Loren, Amelia June Scola and Eloise Mae Loren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Carlson, Jeanne Raymond and Barbara Knowles.
Marilyn’s Memorial visitation will be on Tuesday evening, July 12, 2016 in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St. Gloucester from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
